(Neb.)-Agate Fossil Beds To Celebrate National Fossil Day And Center's Birthday
(AGATE FOSSIL BEDS)-The community is invited to National Fossil Day and the 20th Birthday Party of the Visitor Center at Agate Fossil Beds National Monument. The event will take place October 13th at 1:30 p.m. National Park Service curator Greg McDonald will present “The Equus Files: Fossil Horses and National Parks.”
Birthday cake will be served at 3:00 p.m. after McDonald’s talk. Visitors are encouraged to share memories they have of both of the years before the visitor center building and its early years. They can also learn about other area fossil attractions. Junior paleontologist activities will be available throughout the day. The two trails will be open from dawn to dusk for outdoor enjoyment.
The Agate Fossil Beds Visitor Center is located 22 miles south of Harrison or 34 miles north of Mitchell and three miles east on River Road. The visitor center is open from 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Agate Fossil Beds is a free park.
