By: Roxie Graham-Marski Posted at: 10/01/2012 11:25 AM

(CHADRON)-On Saturday afternoon, September 29th, Chadron police officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Morehead Street. The owners of the residence informed officers that a person unknown to them had been in their house, eaten some of their food, and rummaged through some jewelry. Upon arrival, officers ascertained the suspect had fled, but a neighbor recognized the subject and knew him by name. In the course of the investigation, officers furnished a photograph to witnesses, and they positively identified him.
Officers located and arrested 41-year-old Waylon J. Lame of Chadron. Jewelry and clothing in Lame’s possession was identified as belonging to the home owners. Lame was taken to the Dawes County Jail and booked for burglary, a class IV Felony.
The Chadron Police Department would like to acknowledge public efforts to curb crime. Members of the community with crime-fighting tips are encouraged to call the Chadron Police Department at 308-432-0510 or Dawes County Crime Stoppers at 308-432-0519. Cash rewards are sometimes even available.
