(Neb.)-Chadron Police End Early Morning Two Hour Standoff Near KCSR/KBPY Studios

By: Dennis and Kathi Brown Posted at: 09/29/2012 11:00 AM

(Chadron)-Chadron Police, assistied by the Nebraska State Patrol, Dawes County Sheriffs Office, and the Chadron Fire Department were able to successfully end a stand-off with a man threatening suicide early Saturday morning.

The incident was reported at 3:55 Saturday morning just north of the KCSR/KBPY/Chadrad.com studios on Bordeaux in Downtown Chadron.

Officers spent two hours talking to 21-year-old Trenton Rattler before they were able to convince  him to give himself up at 6:00 Saturday morning.

Rattler was armed with two eleven-inch knives.  He cut himself several times during the incident.

After he was taken into custody he was transported to Chadron Community Hospital for evaluation.

During the time officers were attempting to talk Rattler into surrendering, KCSR/KBPY staff were kept away from the Station, being allowed to return only a few minutes before our live 6:06 newscast on KCSR.

Both KCSR and KBPY remained on the air during the incident running on a computer program.
