(CRAWFORD)-The Crawford fire department was called to a location about five miles east of town to the scene of a vehicle pulling a trailer load of hay bales that had caught fire. Apparently several bales were removed from the trailer and extinguished. An eyewitness said it looked as if an area of land near the highway in front of a residence had also been burned, but firefighters appeared to have it contained. No report yet as to whether there was any damage to the vehicle or trailer transporting the hay or how the fire was started. We will pass along additional information as it becomes available.
