(Neb.)-Several Reports Of Fire After Morning Storm Rolls Through

(Chadron)-Several fires were reported this morning (Tuesday) in the KCSR/KBPY listening area, possibly as a result of the early morning thunderstorm that rolled through, dropping very little rain on an already parched landscape.
Crews from Harrison were called out to a fire near the White River, and were able to get a handle on the blaze. Chadron crews were called out on two possible fires at the same time. The first was a report from Fall River County of a smoke sighting across the state line in Nebraska, and the second was a pasture fire south of town near Table Road. Again, both incidents were handled quickly, with some crews being sent back to the fire hall by 9:30.
The third call was to Crawford of smoke west on Highway 20 between mile markers 21 and 22, located approximately ¾ of a mile south of the highway. Upon investigation, crews determined it was the same fire that the Harrison crews were already fighting, and the Crawford crews returned to the fire hall.
Scanner traffic indicated there would be some aerial monitoring of the county to search for any other areas where other hot spots may be hiding.
