By: Chris Fankhauser Posted at: 08/03/2012 05:33 PM
(Crawford)-Shortly before 5 pm on Friday, Crawford fire crews were called back to the scene of the Steineke fire south of Crawford. This is at least the third time the fire has flared up in that area. Shortly after 5, crews from Chadron were called for mutual aid, and it is understood that authorities are trying to line up air support. Reports have also been received of possible evacuations. Officials say residents east of Belmont should evacuate or be prepared to evacute on a moments notice. They indicate that this as a very serious situation. The temperature change will be welcome to those fighting the fire, but the high winds will not. As more information becomes available, we will pass that along to our listeners.
