(Neb.)-Dailey Advises Of Area Scam
By: Chris Fankhauser Posted at: 08/01/2012 04:31 PM
(Chadron)-Dawes County Sheriff Karl Dailey is advising area residents of an old scam that has resurfaced in the area. According to Dailey, residents have either received emails or phone calls asking for money from a supposed relative or friend who is in jail and needs bailed out.
Dailey said if someone receives a call or email, to try to get more information from the sender, such as the agency who is holding the person, an officer’s name and a telephone number to call them back. He then said to call a relative of that person who could confirm or deny the allegations, or could help check into it.
Dailey advises to not send any money whether cash or wired, do not give any bank account information or credit card information. If anyone has any concerns, they are welcome to call Dailey at 432-3025.
