(Neb.)-No Injuries When Pickup Hits Scooter

By: Chris Fankhauser Posted at: 07/30/2012 03:21 PM

(Chadron)-No one was injured when a pickup crashed into a motorized scooter Monday afternoon on West Third Street in Chadron.  The incident was reported at approximately 3 pm.

The full-sized pickup was parked at the convenience store at the corner of Third and Main Streets when it drifted backwards across three lanes of traffic on Third Street. It came to rest with its ball hitch in the wall of the office of Kerry Bailey on the north side of the road.

Parked outside the office was a 2003 Honda Metropolitan scooter belonging to Trisha Gortsema, who works at the office. No one was injured, but the scooter was considered a total loss. Law enforcement is investigating the cause of the accident, which may be a mechanical issue with the pickup.
