(S.D.)-Storms Spark Several Black Hills Fires

(Rapid City)-As thunderstorms rolled over the Black Hills Monday evening, lightning sparked several new wildfires. Federal, state and local firefighters from around the Black Hills were able to quickly respond to these new fires, many are 100 percent contained. Firefighters continue to work on the Stage Hill Fire and the River Bend Fires, both near Edgemont.  
As of 11:00 am, here is a summary of the new starts.
Stage Hill Fire 
Location: 13 miles east of Edgemont, SD, near west end of Angostura Reservoir
Size: 25 acres
Cause: unknown
Containment: unknown
Resources assigned: 4 engines, 2 handcrews, helicopter, local VFD resources
 
River Bend Fire
Location: 6 miles SE of Edgemont, SD
Size: 75-80 acres
Cause: unknown
Containment: 70 percent as of 6:30 am
Resources assigned: 4 engines, 1 dozer, 1 handcrew, 3 helicopters, local VFD resources
 
West Ardmore Fire
Location: 19 miles south of Edgemont, SD
Size: 0.1 acre
Cause: lightning
Containment: 100 percent
 
Dry Creek Fire
Location: 7 miles northeast of Hot Springs, SD, along Highway 79
Size: 0.33 acres on private land
Cause: lightning
Containment: 100 percent
 
Edgewood Fire
Location: 9 miles northwest of Rapid City, SD
Size: 0.1 acre
Cause: lightning
Containment: 100 percent
 
Quinn Fire
Location: 3 miles northeast of Pactola Reservoir
Size: 0.5 acres on private land
Cause: under investigation
Containment: 100 percent
 
Carr Fire
Location: 2 miles west of Elk Mountain Lookout
Size: 0.1 acre on Black Hills National Forest
Cause: lightning
Containment: 100 percent
 
Triple R Fire
Location: 2 miles south of Keystone and 2 miles east of Mount Rushmore
Size: 0.1 acre on private land
Cause: lightning
Containment: 100 percent
