(Neb.)-Cut Cable Affected 911 Calls

By: Chris Fankhauser Posted at: 07/16/2012 10:19 PM

(Chadron)-The cable that was cut earlier south of Chadron is not only affecting area telephone and internet customers, but 911 calls as well.  According to Chadron Communications Supervisor Tony Serbousek, people have had trouble trying to connect to the Chadron dispatch.

Serbousek said the phone call from Crawford and Harrison is supposed to be a local call, but with the cut cable, those calls are being re-routed, and making it difficult at times to make a connection.  Personnel are available at the Crawford and Harrison fire halls for those needing emergency assistance.

To make an emergency call in Crawford, call 665-2211, and in Harrison, call 668-2414.  Serbousek said personnel with Century Link were hopeful they could repair the cable by 11:30 this evening, and hoped it would be even sooner.
