(Neb.)-Cut Cable Causes Phone And Internet Outages (UPDATE)

(CHADRON)-Karl Bieber with CenturyLink said the fiber optic line was repaired and services restored as of 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

(Chadron)-Contractors not working for CenturyLink cut a fiber optic line south of Chadron today (Monday) south of Chadron.  This will impact phone and some internet customers living south and west of Chadron, as well as some within the city.

Crews were on their way to the site during the evening to assess the severity of the cut and begin repairing the line.  There is currently no estimate on how long it will take to restore service.

CenturyLink is suggesting if people know womeone in the affected area who lives alone or needs assistance, to call to see if their phone is working and check on them if there is no answer or a fast busy signal is heard.  Customers whose service is impacted may call CenturyLink at 1-800-244-1111.
