(CHADRON)-One body was located by firefighters during the course of extinguishing the fire at the Blaine Hotel Wednesday evening. Dawes County police and Dawes County Attorney/Coroner Vance Haug (Howg) were contacted to investigate the specific cause of death. Investigator Ryan Sylvester from the Nebraska State Fire Marshall’s Office was notified and called to the scene to investigate the source and cause of the fire.

Haug has ordered an autopsy and toxicology screening. The name of the deceased individual is being withheld pending family notification and positive identification by investigators. Further details will be released when available.
