(CHADRON)-One of Chadron’s longstanding traditions will take place this Sunday when adults square off in the canoe races, and children test their pedal power in the paddleboat races during the annual Fur Trade Days Regatta at Chadron State Park.
The event, which is sponsored by the Chadron Kiwanis Club, begins at 2:00 p.m. at the park lagoon. Registration for the children’s paddleboat races and the open division of the canoe races will be 1:30-1:50 p.m. Each team consists of two racers. The canoe races, which promise a wet and wild time for competitors, feature a business division and an open division.
Teams in the business division compete for “The Paddle,” while the open division winners lay claim to a traveling trophy. Prizes are also awarded to the paddleboat racers. The entry fee, both in the open division and business division, is $5 per person. Entry to the children’s paddle boat races is free. For registration or other information, contact Chadron Kiwanis treasurer Duane Gardener at West 2nd Appliance, 308-432-4257.
