(Neb.)-Highlights From Chadron School Board Meeting

By: Roxie Graham-Marski Posted at: 07/09/2012 08:36 PM

(Chadron)-The Chadron school board discussed and accepted several policy revisions at their school board meeting Monday night. Most of the changes were a result of mandates from state and federal entities. Board chair Sandy Roes said the board usually spends time reviewing policies each year and implementing changes as deemed necessary. The reviewed policies were Internet Safety, Parental Involvement, and Anti-Bullying.
The board also heard from business manager Kim Morrow, who stated the school is currently way under budget on school expenses. She said expenditures are currently at 67 percent, but that depreciation accounts and larger summer projects, such as the school drainage upgrade and storage cabinets, which have not yet been deducted, will also factor into the total.
The board also revealed a draft of the school’s strategic planning committee findings, discussed upcoming meetings, heard reports from committees and school superintendent Caroline Winchester, and approved administrator and teacher contracts. It was noted that administrators had taken a pay freeze last year to help alleviate budget cuts.
We’ll have more news from school board at a later time, so stay tuned.
