LEAD, S.D. (AP) - The Sanford Underground Research Facility in
South Dakota's Black Hills will host its fifth annual science
festival next week to give the public a chance to hear talks by
scientists and learn about research into cosmic rays.
The July 14 festival will feature talks by researchers studying
dark matter, which has never been detected but is considered to be
the most abundant form of matter in the universe.
Visitors also will be able to talk by video link with
researchers 4,850 feet underground in the former gold mine in Lead.
Other activities include hands-on experiments for people of all
ages.
