(S.D.)-Veteran Designation Allowed On SD Driver Licenses
By: Roxie Graham-Marski Posted at: 07/02/2012 01:35 PM
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - A new state law allows military veterans to have their South Dakota drivers' licenses identify them as veterans.
The law that took effect Sunday gives honorably discharged veterans the option of adding the word "veteran" to the front of their drivers' licenses. The designation will make it easier for them to verify their status as veterans.
Veterans can add the designation to their drivers' licenses by visiting any drivers' license office. They must present their DD-214 document, which shows their honorable discharge status from active duty, or present a certificate signed by a county or tribal
veterans service officer.
