By: Chris Fankhauser Posted at: 06/27/2012 10:03 AM

(10:43 am)-KCSR has gathered additional information regarding what has been called a standoff situation in Crawford.  The incident began downtown when a man made comments to local law enforcement that were deemed threatening.  Officers followed the man south of Crawford on Highway 71, and approximately three miles south, the man pulled his vehicle off to the side of the road.  When officers approached the vehicle a short time later, they discovered the man dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.  Other reports indicate it is possible the man was from Scottsbluff.  The NSP is still not releasing any information on the incident.
