By: Chad Franzen Posted at: 03/20/2010 06:48 AM

Loup City Superintendent Dr. Caroline Winchester was formally offered the Chadron Public Schools superintendent position, Friday.

The Chadron Public Schools Board of Education held a special meeting, Thursday, to discuss the selection of the candidate to be offered a contract for superintendent.
The meeting, which lasted over four hours, was held in closed session.

Winchester was chosen among three finalists who interviewed this week. Her hiring will not be complete until a contract is agreed upon.  She is also Elementary Principal in Loup City, and formerly Superintendent in Elba.  She was a finalist for the superintendent position in Alliance, last year.

She listed leadership and budgeting as two of her strengths.  Her people and organizational skills were evident to the board.

Randy Butcher, currently Special Education Administrator in Torrington, WY, and Dr. Dan Peters, the current superintendent in Renwick, KS, and former assistant principal at two schools in Wichita, KS, also interviewed this week.

All three finalists were interviewed by the school board, and then met with groups of administrators, teachers, classified staff, and members of the public.
