(Neb.)-CSC Student-Athlete Dies in Alabama Automobile Accident

OPELIKA, Ala. – Three Chadron State College students were involved in a one vehicle accident in Auburn, Ala., early Monday morning, according to a news release from the Auburn Police Division.
 
One of the students, Garrett Schlichtemeier of Ogallala, was pronounced dead Monday morning at approximately 10:30. He was 19 years old.
 
The other two students, according to police, were 18-year olds  Michael Madkins of Elk Grove, California,  and Tyler Perri of Covina, California.   All three students were redshirt freshmen on the CSC football team last fall.
 
On Monday, the Auburn Police Division and emergency personnel responded to the accident at approximately 2:24 a.m.
 
Madkins, who had been driving, and Schlichtemeier were transported by ambulance to East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Ala., Monday.
 
Perri was treated at the scene and released.
