(Neb.)-Dawes County Incumbents Face Limited Challenges So Far

The deadline for filing for 2010 candidacy for an elected position in Dawes County is March 1st, 2010.
As of February 1st, according to a list held by the County Clerk, the following incumbents were the only ones to have filed for election to their current positions: Dawes County Clerk Cheryl Feist, Treasurer Lois Chizek, Assessor ‘Lindy’ Coleman, Clerk of District Court Sharon Harrison, and County Attorney Vance Haug.
Dawes County Sheriff Karl Dailey has filed for re-election. He will be challenged by Loren Zimmerman, a former Los Angeles police detective and Professor of Criminal Justice and Justice Studies at Chadron State College.
County Commissioner Don Blausey has filed for re-election in District #1. He will be challenged by Dawes County Roads Forman Jake Stewart.
Bridge builder Stacy Swinney is the only candidate to have filed for election as County Commissioner in District #2. Roger Wess is the current county commissioner in District #2, and is eligible to run again.
Chadron School Board member Sandy Roes has filed for re-election to a 4-year term. Chadron resident Cydney Janssen has also filed for election.
