Bob was born on June 30, 1947 in Alliance, NE to John and Ila Rising. He was the second of five children. He passed away on August 24, 2017 at his home in Crawford, NE.
Bob attended grade school in Ashby and Marsland, NE and Van Tassel, WY. He graduated from Sioux County High School in 1966, where he participated in football, rodeo, and FFA. He was drafted into the U.S. Army, reporting for duty in February 1967, and was honorably discharged in July 1968.

Bob had worked on several different ranches, drove truck, and worked for Burlington Northern Railroad, Fort Robinson, and Mahoney State Parks just to name a few before finding his life calling of horse racing. He spent over 25 years on the racetrack, first racing Quarter Horses, and then moving on to Thoroughbreds. He owned many different horses throughout the years, training each one himself, and also training for many other horse owners. Bob was always liked and respected by his friends and known for his honesty and talent of training winning horses. He raced mostly in Nebraska, but also traveled to Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa, and Arizona with his horses.
Bob loved being a grandfather. From the time his five grandchildren were born, he enjoyed holding them on his lap and following them to all of the activities they participated in.
