07/14/2017 - Lucille Evelyn Deon

Funeral services for Lucille “Tiny Girl” Evelyn Deon “Ta Cannupa Iyoyanpa Win,” age 83, will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge, SD with Father Peter Klink, S.J., and Charles McGaa officiating. Traditional services will be provided by Floyd Hand.
 
Burial will be held at a later date.
 
A one-night wake service will start at 4:00 PM on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge, SD. Rosary services will start at 7:00 PM.
 
Lucille was born on June 28, 1934 in Pine Ridge, SD to Earl Paul Deon Sr. and Ollie (Amiotte) Deon. She made her journey to the Spirit World on July 9, 2017 at the Oglala Sioux Lakota Nursing Home in Rushville, NE. 
 
Lucille grew up in the Pine Ridge area and attended school at the OglalaCommunitySchool, graduating in 1952. She started her career with the South Dakota Employment Service and started working for IHS in 1965. She retired in 2001 after fulfilling 36 years of service. 
 
Lucille is survived by lifelong companion Guy William Red Cloud of Pine Ridge, SD; son Gilbert Cuny of Pine Ridge, SD; daughters Lynette (Farrell Bodie Weston) Cuny of Pine Ridge, SD, Karla (Ken Many Wounds) Cuny of Crazy Horse Community, and Darcy (Harold Salway) Cuny of Casa Grande, AZ; stepchildren Troy Red Cloud, Levi Red Cloud, and Warren Red Cloud, all of Manderson, SD and Tamara and Michelle of Rapid City, SD; sister LaVonne Three Stars of Scottsdale, AZ; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
 
Lucille was preceded in death by parents Earl Sr. and Ollie Deon; children Lucille and Marlin; brother Earl Deon Jr.; grandparents Louise (Janis) Amiotte, Levi Amiotte, Julia (Mills) Deon, and Louis Deon; and great-grandchildren Aliyah Bettelyoun and Kimber Chevelle Provost.
 
Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD is in charge of arrangements for Lucille “Tiny Girl” Evelyn Deon “Ta Cannupa Iyoyanpa Win.”
