Funeral service for Nellie McLaughlin, age 54, of Rapid City, SD, will be  Friday, February 7, 2014 at 11:00 AM, at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD Reverend Rhoda Mesteth and Sister Barb officiating.
One night wake service starting at 3:00 PM, Thursday, February 6, 2014 at the Brother Rene Hall in Oglala, SD
Burial will be at Holy Cross Episcopal Church Cemetery, Pine Ridge, SD
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald “Rusty” McLaughlin and Darlene (Amiotte) McLaughlin; sister, Katheryn McLaughlin and grandson, Aries Dreamer
Nellie was born and raised in Pine Ridge, SD to Darlene (Amiotte) and Gerald McLaughlin on March 22, 1959. She was the second born to Darlene and first born to Rusty. She lived her life on the reservation she was from, often leaving for family or vacation. She became a mother for the first time in 1984 and a second time in 1991. She was a dedicated mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and grandmother. She worked for many years for the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety. She was an accomplished artist with beadwork and at baking.

Daughter: Mariah Mousseau of Pine Ridge, SD
Son: Shayne Mousseau of Pine Ridge, SD
Sisters: Jeaneen Lone Hill of Sioux Falls, SD, Carla McLaughlin of Pine Ridge, SD, and Darla McLaughlin of Hot Springs, SD
Brothers: Jerry McLaughlin and Billy McLaughlin both of Pine Ridge, SD, and Steve McLaughlin of Oklahoma.
Grandchildren: Bradley Mousseau, Teddy Mousseau and Ariana Dreamer all of Pine Ridge, SD
Numerous nieces and nephews who think the world of her because she was always the one they could turn to that would listen.
Sioux Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Nellie McLaughlin.
