11/27/2013 - Roberta “Ronni” Philby

Funeral services for Roberta “Ronni” Philby, age 59, of Chadron, Nebraska will be on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Chamberlain Chapel with Paris Fisher officiating.
Mrs. Philby passed away on November 27, 2013 at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Ronni was born on February 7, 1954.
“Ronni” passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Rapid City Regional Hospital due to liver failure. Ronni was born and raised in Chadron, Nebraska. She always considered Chadron as her home no matter where she was or where she lived. After graduating from Chadron High School in 1972, Ronni went on to pursue a nursing degree as an LPN. 
Ronni worked in the Ponderosa Villa in Crawford, Nebraska until a back injury forced an early retirement. She met and married Richard Philby in AR with her son and daughter in attendance in 1996. Ronni and Richard lived in Oxford, Nebraska for nine years. They moved back to Chadron to assist in the care of her parents Joseph “Big Joe” and Geneva “Gen” Murer.
She was very active in her community and became very involved in several community activities including Keep Chadron Beautiful, the American Legion, and various others. 
Ronni was preceded in death by her father Joseph L. Murer and her brother Joseph C. “Craig” Murer. She is survived by her husband Richard Philby, her son David and Susan Murer of Grand Island, Nebraska; Daughter, Geneva “Genny” and Jonathan Crawford of Arapahoe, Nebraska; Sisters, Mickie Knowles of Westminster, Colorado, Jerry and Lyman Williams of Henderson, Nebraska, Marilyn “Suzi” and Troy Cradeur or Thorton, Colorado; Sister-in-law, Mishelle Murer of Chadron, Nebraska; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, eleven nieces and nephews, and various other family.
Ronni’s wishes were to be cremated at a later time.
The Philby and Murer family wish to thank everyone for their wishes and prayers during this time.
A memorial has been established for the Chadron Rescue Unit. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE, 69337.
