Funeral services for Marlene Anderson, age 77 of Harrison, Nebraska will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, May 24, 2013, at the Church of the Nativity in Harrison with Father Bernard Berger officiating.
A memorial has been established for Harrison Rescue Squad. Donations may be sent to Security First Bank in Harrison, Nebraska
On Sunday afternoon the Good Lord came down from heaven and took Marlene’s hand and guided her to heaven’s gate to be with Him.
Marlene Anderson of Harrison, Nebraska passed away May 19, 2013 at Regional West Hospital in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
Marlene was born on the family sheep ranch about eight miles northwest of Harrison on May 30, 1935 and was raised in rural Sioux County by her parents, Al and Frances (DeBock) Hourt together with eight brothers and sisters. She graduated from Sioux County High School in Harrison, received normal training and taught school in rural Sioux County for one year.
On June 15, 1954 she married Gerald Anderson and four children were born to this union. They were married for 59 years. They worked at various ranches and road construction sites before moving to the Anderson ranch eighteen miles southwest of Harrison, where she lived for the rest of her life.
Marlene was a great seamstress, an avid gardener and a generous wonderful mother and wife. She enjoyed preparing holiday meals and birthday cakes for her entire family. Fifteen years ago, she underwent quadruple by-pass surgery and was a survivor of an extreme health challenge until she succumbed to congestive heart failure. Marlene will be missed for her contagious laughter, positive attitude and her loving, giving heart. Cremation has been taken place.

Daughters: Desiree “Dee” Martin of Lusk, WY; Kristie Miller of Katy, TX; and Debra Anderson (James Hinton) of Mooresville, NC,
Son: Mike (Bonnie) Anderson of Morrill, NE.
Grandchildren: Gary Anderson, Andy Martin, Camilla Brown, Sam Phipps, Brian Miller, Erica Miller, Brittany Miller, Katy Anderson, Clancy Anderson, and Cass Anderson.
Great Grandchildren: 8.
Sisters: Betty Morvara, Catherine Ross, Margaret Dunn, her twin sister Arlene Parmely, Linda Fenster.
Brother: Joe Hourt.
Preceding Marlene in death were her parents and brothers Henry and Pat Hourt and a great-grandchild Joselyne Brown.
Chamberlain Chapel of Crawford is in charge of arrangements.
