Memorial service for Georgia Ashach Powell, age 96, will be Friday, February 15th, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Memorial United Methodist Church in Harrison, NE. The Reverend George Kilmer will be officiating.
Burial will follow the services at the Harrison Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to one of the following organizations: Harrison United Methodist Church, Harrison Ambulance fund, the Harrison Fire Department, or the VFW Post #7970 in Harrison. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.
Georgia Ashach Powell died on Tuesday, January 22nd, 2013 at the Chadron Community Hospital.
Georgia A. Powell was born March 17th, 1916 to Tress M. and Edith (Collamore) Powell in Harrison, Nebraska. She grew up in Harrison and lived most of her life in Harrison. She had one brother William M. Powell of Harrison and one sister Jane Arlene Farnum of Tamworth, New Hampshire.
Throughout her life, Georgia was very active in many community projects and activities. Her enthusiasm for the Harrison community never faded and she was never shy about voicing her opinions about how things should be. She had extensive knowledge of the community history and the people who lived there. Many times she was called on to answer questions about Harrison’s past and its people.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents Tress M and Edith C Powell; one brother, William M. Powell of Harrison and one sister Jane Arlene Farnum of Tamworth, New Hampshire.
She is survived by four nieces, Jane F. Beard of Bellevue, Washington, Ann F. Lambert of Bahama, North Carolina, Donna Jean Bernard of Jefferson, South Dakota, and Jodi Kay Grimm of Mesa, Arizona; three nephews, John M. Powell of Laramie, Wyoming, Walter W. Farnum of Weare, New Hampshire, and William W. Farnum of Tamworth, New Hampshire. She is also survived by six great nieces, ten great nephews, six great-great nieces and 5 great-great nephews.
Chamberlain Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
