Memorial services for Donald James Richardson, of Gillette WY will be Friday, October 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Chadron, NE. Donald James Richardson, Gillette WY passed away in Billings, Montana on July 5, 2012. He was born February 16, 1945 to Betty Barth Richardson and Faye Richardson in Rushville Nebraska. Don’s father Faye was killed in action in World War II and he never saw Don. Don’s Mother Betty married Lavern Norman in 1951. Don became a son to Lavern and eventually an older brother to three sisters. His grandmother, Elsie Bjork was a prominent person in his life. He graduated from Chadron Normal in 1963 and the University of Nebraska in 1968. As a young man, he worked with his Dad on the family farm. He worked in North Carolina, Arizona and Wyoming and had excellent management skills. Toward the end of his life, Don was employed by the Salvation Army in Gillette WY and truly cared for the people he tried to help. Don had an easy laugh. As a youngster, he was known to be a bit mischievous. He enjoyed photography and any sport that the University of Nebraska was playing. He liked to watch horse races and pyrotechnics. He loved sports cars. Don was an avid reader. He was a good uncle to his nephews and nieces, attending the important events in their lives. Don was preceded in death by his Father, Faye Richardson, his Mother, Betty Norman, his Dad, Lavern Norman and his Grandparents Herman and Elsie Bjork. Immediate Survivors: Sisters: Jan (Tom) Johnson, Kae (Lynn) Watson and Pattie Norman. Nephews: Jed Johnson and Nick Watson. Nieces: Aimee Norman, Amber Johnson, Jaime and Vanessa Watson.
