Memorial service for Donald Monson, of Crawford, Nebraska will be Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Brady Methodist Church in Brady, Nebraska with Pastor Janie Freeman officiating.
A memorial has been established for the Hot Springs Senior Center. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.

Donald was born on December 17, 1930 in Gothenburg, Nebraska and died on September 3, 2012, at Rapid City Regional Hospital, from complications due to a stroke. He was born and raised on a farm north of Brady, to Alfred and Ruby Monson, the youngest of 4 children (Eleanor, Gerald, and Wayne). He attended and graduated from Gothenburg High School, class of 1949. He also attended one semester at Kearney State, before going back to work on the farm.
He joined the US Army (Sixth Armored), from 1954 to 1956. In 1959, he married Mary Fix and had 3 children (James, Tracie, and Michael). They were divorced in 1999, where he then married Jaynet McCance in 2002, and has spent the last 12 years living in Crawford. Don was always up for a card game, and enjoyed pitching horseshoes.

Nieces: Shirley Huston, Janet (John) Lindstead, Janel (Dave) Roti, Lyn (Layne) Knoedler, Sue (Vic) Shull, and Suzanne (K.C.) Mauler.
Nephews: Kent (Ellen) Anderson, Ron (Chris) Anderson, John (Nancy) Vencill, Jeff Vencill, Doug Fix, Mark Fix, and Tim (Carrie) Fix.
And his new family (The McCances'), and all his great nieces and nephews.
