09/06/2014 - Sioux County Historical Trek
The Sioux County Historical Society in Harrison, NE will hold its 31st annual Historical Trek on Saturday, September 6, 2014. The day-long guided tour will travel by bus, visiting historic ranches and landmarks in southeastern Sioux County. We will also venture a short distance into Scottsbluff County, stopping for lunch at Lake Minatare State Recreation Area. This year’s Trek Chairperson is Delilah Flaherty.
The trek will begin and end at Agate Fossibl Beds National Monument, 22 miles south and 3 miles east of Harrison on Highway 29, or 34 miles north of Mitchell, NE on highway 29. Registration on September 6 will begin at 7:15AM. The Trek will depart promptly at 8:00AM. Reserve your place on the bus by calling the Sioux County Museum ASAP at 308-668-2110.
Museum hours are 10:00AM-4:00PM daily; Sundays from 1:00PM-4:00PM.
Bus transportation is courtesy of Agate Fossil Beds National Monument, James Hill, Superintendent.There is no charge for the Trek, but participants need to bring a sack lunch. Water will be provided.
