07/17/2012 - UNL Extension Hosts Range Youth Days Across Northern Panhandle
Come join in learning about rangelands. This year there will be sessions in Sioux (July 17th). All sessions will run from 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM.
Topics to be covered include: ecological sites / land use, plant identification, soils and range wildlife. They will also look at stocking rates and what the drought has done to our grazing capacity this year. Youth will also have a chance to collect and press range plants so plan to bring a press.
All are asked to bring a sack lunch, water bottle, a hat, and closed toe/heel shoes. Tennis shoes are okay; flip-flops, not so much. Parents and other adults are encouraged to participate and make this a family outing. Please plan to meet at the local Extension Office so that we can depart from the office by 9:30 AM and drive to the field location.
To RSVP, call the local: Box Butte at 308-762-5616; Sheridan at 308-327-2312 and Sioux at 308-668-2428.
